Freecycle groups are run by locally based volunteer moderators.
The first UK Freecycle group was set up in London in Oct 2003. There are now 459 groups spread across the country, with 1,002,328 members!

Find and subscribe to your nearest local UK group
If a local Freecycle is not listed, you might want to Start a Group in your area!
You need to be subscribed to a group before you can post a message!
How to UNSUBSCRIBE from a Yahoo! mailing list:
[1] Send (from the email address with which you are subscribed) a blank email to YOUR_GROUP-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com), or
[2] Click on the UNSUBSCRIBE link at the bottom of any posts received from the list, or
[3] Login to your group's homepage at Yahoo! and click on 'Edit Membership' at the top.
Tip: Failing 1-3, email the group owner at YOUR_GROUP-owner@yahoogroups.com and ask one of the moderators nicely to do it for you.

Can't find my group
I don't know which group I'm subscribed to
[1] Go to United Kingdom and click on your county.
[2] Choose your nearest group from within the county list and then click the 'GOTO' button to visit the homepage, where there is a 'Join This Group!' button; or click 'JOIN' to subscribe by email.
Tip: The list owner address is near the bottom of the group page, so if you are still having problems, please contact them for specific aid. [See Tip above]
Tip: If you can't find a group you're subscribed to, look at an email sent from that group and there will be a link at the bottom to go to the group's homepage.
There are numerous ways to post an item on your local Freecycle group once you are subscribed:
[1] Using the Message Maker at http://uk.freecycle.org/mm/YOUR_GROUP (if available), or
[2] By email to YOUR_GROUP@yahoogroups.com, or
[3] By logging into Yahoo! and select YOUR_GROUP and then click on the Post button.
If you are still having problems please contact YOUR_GROUP-owner@yahoogroups.com for specific help.
Can't cope with all the emails
There are two things you can do to make the emails from the list more manageable:
[1] Change your email delivery settings to 'Special Notices' so you can browse the items posted from your group's Yahoo! homepage. Login to your group at Yahoo! and click on 'Edit Membership' at the top and follow the options there.
[2] Create a 'filter' in your email program.
Thunderbird: Tools --> Message Filters
Outlook Express: Tools --> Message Rules --> Mail
For more information, use a Seach Engine to find instructions pertaining to the specific email program you use!
This is possibly because you opted to use the address Yahoo! gave you on signup and don't know how to access it!

If you find you have been ubsubscribed or banned from a group you wish to still be part of, please contact that group's owner (YOUR_GROUP-owner@yahoogroups.com) for advice first. If you get no response then please try Any other help below.
